Data Deletion Policy
How to have your data deleted from LayanOS, what happens when you ask, and how to check the status of a request.
- Effective
- Last updated
You can ask us to delete your data at any time. This page explains how to do it, what gets removed, how long it takes, and the narrow cases where something must be kept.
If you arrived here from Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp with a confirmation code, use the status checker below to see where your request stands.
Check a deletion request
Enter the confirmation code you received when the request was made.
1. How to request deletion
There are three routes, and all of them work:
- Through Meta — if you connected to a salon via Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp, remove the LayanOS app from your Meta account settings. Meta notifies us automatically and we begin deletion without you doing anything else. You receive a confirmation code you can check below.
- By email — write to [email protected] from the address associated with your data, or tell us the phone number the salon holds for you. Include enough detail for us to identify the record.
- Through the salon — if your data sits in a salon's client records, ask them directly. They can delete it from within LayanOS immediately, and we will assist them if needed.
2. What gets deleted
On a verified request we remove:
- Your name, phone number, email address, date of birth and language preference.
- Your appointment history, preferences, loyalty balances and package entitlements.
- Treatment notes recorded about you, including allergy and sensitivity notes.
- Conversations across WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, the booking widget and the in-product inbox.
- Voice recordings and their transcripts.
- Consultation photographs.
- The link between your social profile and the salon's client record.
3. What we must keep, and why
A small amount of information survives deletion because the law requires it or because removing it would harm someone else. We keep only what is strictly necessary, and it is not used to contact you or to rebuild your profile:
| Retained | Why | For how long |
|---|---|---|
| Invoices and payment records | Tax and accounting law | 7 years |
| Anonymised booking counts | Business reporting; cannot identify you | Indefinite |
| Record of your deletion request | Proof we honoured it | 24 months |
| Fraud and abuse records | Preventing recurrence, protecting others | As long as necessary |
| Backup copies | Backups are immutable; they expire on a cycle | Up to 35 days |
4. How long it takes
- We acknowledge every request within 48 hours and issue a confirmation code.
- Deletion from live systems normally completes within 30 days.
- Backups are on a rolling 35-day cycle, so a deleted record disappears from backups within 35 days at the latest. If a backup is restored in the meantime, we re-apply completed deletions.
- If a request is complex and needs longer, we will tell you why before the 30 days are up.
5. Checking a request
Every request produces a confirmation code. Use the checker on this page to see whether it is pending, in progress or complete. Keep the code — it is the only way to look a request up without going through identity verification again.
6. If your data is held by a salon
Most personal data in LayanOS belongs to a salon's own client records. The salon decides what is held and for how long; we process it on their instructions. That means:
- A request sent to us is passed to the salon holding the record, and we confirm to you once it has been actioned.
- We will not quietly ignore a request because it was addressed to the wrong party.
- Where a salon fails to act on a valid erasure request, we will act on it ourselves rather than leave you without recourse.
7. If you are a subscribing business
Closing a LayanOS subscription is different from deleting a client record. You may export your data for 30 days after termination. Business account data is then deleted within 90 days, except where law requires retention. If you want deletion sooner, ask us and we will action it — bearing in mind that this also removes your clients' records and cannot be undone.
8. Contact
Deletion requests and questions: [email protected]. If you are unhappy with how we handled a request, you can complain to your local data protection authority. LayanOS is operated from Bethlehem, Palestine.
